Keeping You Safe

Through the Pennsylvania Regional Community Policing Institute, we provide training on emergency preparation and keeping streets safe

Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network partners with The Pennsylvania Regional Community Policing Institute to help keep you safe. We recognize that your medical health is directly related to the well-being of your community, and it takes cooperation from all levels of government to work together to improve quality of life in our community. Here’s how we do it:
  • Provide training to police officers – at no cost to them – on educating the community about what to do during a homeland security emergency and how to participate in crime prevention. We teach local police forces how to empower community groups and faith-based organizations to support their efforts. The idea: police are more effective when they have community support.
  • Teach community groups about homeland security and issues related to citizen preparedness. We don’t hold classes in our office; we go out into the community.
Offer a citizen’s preparedness guide from the National Crime Prevention Council. It describes what citizens can do to prepare for emergencies, including evacuation plans, keeping children safe and how much water you should have on hand. Citizens have expressed concerns about not having practical information, such as how much water they should have on hand during an emergency, how many exits they should have in their home or what should they do when their children are home alone during an emergency.
